CHRIS IN AFRICA

Globetrotting filmmaker Chris Nebe, who speaks several languages, has always had a keen geopolitical interest. Many of his documentaries reflect his engagement in human-rights and environmental issues.

Long before Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt discovered Namibia, Chris left his footprint on the country's political landscape.

After befriending the future Namibian President, Chief Clemens Kapuuo, Nebe started backing the Herero Nation in their struggle for independence and was to be the International Advisor to the Chief.
At that time, Namibia was controlled by the South African Apartheid Regime, which strictly enforced segregation of black and white.

Unfortunately, Chief Clemens Kapuuo was assassinated in the dark of night in the capital, Windhoek.

During his last visit to Namibia, to honor his slain friend, Chris was arrested in the Black Ghetto for breaking the curfew.

After receiving numerous death threats in his hotel Nebe decided it was time to leave Namibia for good.

In most Slavic languages "Nebe" means heaven. Chris follows the teachings of Confucius, who said: "Don't do to others what you don't want them to do to you!" Chris is also a strong believer in harmony of mankind and nature.
